AMDR For Trauma Healing and Release: Module 2

Date: 20th & 21st April 2024

Location: Regents University

Cost: £425

A Gentle and Powerful Approach to Working with Trauma.

AMDR Module 2 expands the skills taught in AMDR Module 1. This module is designed to help therapists work with more complex trauma cases such as PTSD/ CPTSD, developmental trauma and dissociation.

Acquiring skills in Module 2 will enable you to work safely and effectively with trauma, with a wide range of clients of all ages.

You will learn our comprehensive, structured, unique and flexible AMDR Trauma approach which builds on and expands the basic AMDR protocol (Module 1) and provides a framework for working with difficult trauma cases, and also includes new skills and resources.

This module will deepen your understanding of both the neuroscience and the nature of trauma and complex trauma (dissociation). In addition, AMDR Module 2 will enable you to assist clients on their therapeutic journey by working mindfully and compassionately. Compassion/self-compassion is at the heart of AMDR because it helps clients to create a sense of safety whilst repairing past ruptures caused by overwhelming traumatic events.

This is AMDR: safe, effective, and neuroscience based.

You will learn in Module 2:

This module includes:

  • Neuroscience and Trauma - The Window of Tolerance model, challenging working memory and healing dissociation via the Polyvagal Theory.

  • The AMDR Timeline protocol - a trauma-focused framework for working with traumatised parts as ego-states.

  • Changing trauma-based negative beliefs and healing the wounded younger part which has been adversely affecting the client since the trauma.

  • The AMDR Cave Talk Repair process – using narrative therapy to help the traumatised client find agency in healing dissociated parts.

  • Helping clients to feel safe again through calming, empowering and soothing techniques.

  • How to work online with clients using AMDR tools and protocols.

  • Body work to release physical trauma memory.

  • How to work with boundaries as a bilateral resource helping clients feel safe.

  • How to work somatically with clients using Mindfulness and the Felt Sense to support client’s embodied awareness.

PLEASE NOTE: It is important to attend BOTH modules in order to gain a complete understanding of the AMDR approach to trauma and attain the level of competence necessary to work safely with traumatised individuals.

Although it is NOT recommended, if there are scheduling challenges, there are cases where AMDR Module 2 can be taken before AMDR Module 1. Please contact us if you fall into this category.
