AMDR For Trauma Healing and Release: Module 1

Date: 27th & 28th Jan 2024

Location: Regents University

Cost: £425

A Gentle and Powerful Approach to Working with Trauma.

In AMDR module 1 you will learn the importance of resourcing traumatised clients and how to help them create a sense of safety. You will learn how to work safely with low levels of trauma and be able to start using the basic elements  of trauma repair, through EMDR-based bilateral stimulation and other tools.

AMDR Module 1 is designed to deepen your understanding of the neuroscience of trauma and its impact on the human nervous system. This course is suitable for experienced Therapists, Coaches, and Counsellors, whatever the area of training.

In completing this AMDR module, you will acquire new and original resourcing techniques for working with trauma, including our adapted version of EMDR. It will change how you work with clients by expanding your knowledge and skills as a therapist.

Together, Joshua Isaac Smith and Gill Wood have combined elements of EMDR and Cognitive Hypnotherapy with mindfulness and somatic psychology to create a powerful, structured, and safe approach to working with trauma.

This is AMDR: safe, effective, and neuroscience based.

You will learn in Module 1:

•  The importance of building resilience and WHY resourcing helps clients feel safe:

•  The neuroscience behind trauma reactions and what happens in the brain and body.

•  Methods to use “psycho-education” to help clients understand what is happening in a traumatic reaction.

•  The neuroscience of how memories are formed, stored and why trauma memories are difficult to change.

•  Many new resourcing techniques to help clients stablise and feel calmer.

•  The role of therapist as a resource while working with trauma (a relational approach)

•  How, and when to apply bilateral brain stimulation (eye movements/tapping) to help clients desensitise and reconsolidate traumatic memories and events.

•  How to install and reinforce positive changes and new beliefs.

•  How to help clients create a new future as a “mismatch” to a difficult past.

By the end of this module, you will be able to work with low level trauma and other complex presenting issues. You will understand how to apply core EMDR-based tools to client challenges. You’ll also experience AMDR’s unique and creative techniques which are built into the structure of our trauma-focussed approach.
